One of our most popular educational hands on programs consists of two early American craft classes, one in the morning and one in the afternoon. This is ideal for Home School Students and School Field Trips! In each class students learn about the history of a particular craft or trade and get to try their hand at it. For instance, in the Candle-Making class students learn the history of candles and then make a candle of their own which they get to take home. A different class will be taken in the afternoon. This program runs from end of April to Mid-November.

The Field-trip Program consists of either a self-guided or guided tour of the village grounds (your choice). The program runs from end of April to Mid-October.

Finally, the Old Bedford Village On-the-Road Program involves representatives of Old Bedford Village traveling to your school or organization. In this program the Old Bedford Village representatives can conduct selected hands-on activities (see Hands-on program above), lecture about a historic topic, or perform a combination of both right in your own school. This program is available year round weather permitting. Cost varies according to the number of Old Bedford Village craft instructors and interpreters required, the program we are conducting for you, and the distance.

Old Bedford Village is proud to announce that we have been certified as an Educational Improvement Organization by the Pennsylvania Department of Community and Economic Development (DCED). Old Bedford Village's educational programs, which are designed within the framework of the Pennsylvania Department of Education's standards, have been determined to be innovative, not a part of a public school's typical academic program, and supplement public schools' regular educational programs. Each year, Old Bedford Village hosts thousands of school children (K-12) who benefit from our educational programs.

Please contact us at village15522@gmail.com or (814) 623-1156 to discuss pricing for all of these programs, as well as other options if you don't see something that suits your needs!

The DCED program provides significant tax incentives in the form of tax credits for businesses which contribute to Educational Improvement Organizations such as Old Bedford Village. A business may receive a tax credit equal to 75% of it's contribution to an Educational Improvement Organization up to a maximum of $200,000 per taxable year. The tax credit may be increased to 90% of the contribution made, up to a maximum of $200,000 per taxable year, if the business agrees to provide the same amount of contribution to the organization for two consecutive years.

More information on this program may be obtained by contacting Old Bedford Village or by going to the DCED website at www.newpa.com/eitc
